Zia & Sierra

Yeah, Dan Gomez is back at work. But not a Zia. Sierra Middle School has lost their best assistant principal to Zia and Mr. Gomez has been "placed" at Sierra. Why are we punishing innocent bystanders?

Yeah Dan Gomez is back at work...at another school. Sierra Middle School has lost their best assistant principal in order to find another place for Mr. Gomez!! Is this fair??? Sierra is now sacrificing also.

Dan Gomez was the best thing to happen to Zia in 10 years. Mr. Gomez single-handedly gained control of the gang population. He was making great progress in turning the school around until Dr. Diaz put him on leave before even knowing the facts of what was going on over there. Mr. Gomez frequently worked on his own while other administrators were off having lunch. Mr. Gomez deserves better treatment and Dr. Diaz showed poor professionalism in the way she handled the whole situation. Glad to see you back in action Mr. Gomez and best of luck

To the concerned student of Mrs. Thacker...I am sure she was a wonderful teacher. As an administrator, however, she is a tyrant. Staff members are required to stand all day, staff are expected to work through lunch, and unless you were one of her 'chosen ones', she was very rude and demeaning when speaking to you. She would chastise teachers in front of students, and would rarely back up her staff members. Gang members ran the school while she was there, yet good students who made a bad choice would get maximum punishment. As a concerned Zia staff member, I am glad she is gone. I just wish the school board would get off their duffs and give us a permanent principal instead of keeping us, and Mrs. Chavira, in limbo

Very upset parent that Mr. Lucero was replaced and sent to Zia. How dare the administration make the change without any consideration for the students and parents. I say the state comes in, cleans house, and starts fresh. Start fresh with the school board!!!!

Although Mr. Gomez did contribute to eliminating some of the gang problems at Zia, lets give credit where it really belongs. The staff of Safe/Drug Free Schools, especially Barry Peace and Marvin Allen did most of the work last year to help gain control and stablize the gang problem. Where are they now when we need them the most??
