Diaz and the Board
The problem with Sonia Diaz is indicative of the lack of professionalism, ethics, and morality of the current sitting school board. This board was unresponsive when 1500 persons marched on central office. They were unresponsive when three dozen employees risked their jobs to tell their stories to the school lawyer. They were unresponsive when 40 principals showed up at a board meeting and asked, no pleaded, for Charles White to be added to list of interviewees. They literally do not answer email or phone calls. The board must be recalled. The good with the bad. They need to go.
It is frustrating to hear how derogatory Dr. Diaz is about our district and our teachers/administrators. I understand she was at a conference in Austin this weekend. She had nothing but negative comments about our teachers/administrators and district. Those in attendance were surprised by her comments.
If Diaz is reinstated as superintendent, then the school board is sending the message that they basically back her behavior and don't care about the valid concerns of over 2,000 LCPS employees and many in the community. If Diaz is in fact brought back into her job, we should strike. I know it seems harsh, but this lady has no business being our boss, she's incompetent, doesn't belong here, and needs to leave, it's as simple as that. I won't work for this lady.
Liz Marrufo, an excellent elementary school educator, has no experience with middle schools or high schools. She lacks the robustness to run a district. What is the school Board going to do to ensure she can succeed? Bringing back Joann Patton would make more sense.
After reading Haussamen's blog, it is no wonder that our illustrious leader has the talent for putting on a facade. Look at the comments. The board is putting her on leave but supports her activities to this date and was unaware according to Brien of any personnel or fiduciary problems in the district; adding insult to injury, the state politician's believe she needs more time in order for her leadership and vision to show results. Exactly what is her vision and future plans for the district? Has anyone ever found out?
Now that all of you have had your moment to relish and savoir you're perceived victory against Diaz, now take a step back and think about it. Have each of you been a tool and instrumental in giving Diaz what she might have been after all along?? To simply leave the district, raid the coffers, and walk away laughing at yet another successful ruse in which she will be highly compensated? If Diaz is forced out it will cost the district ~$500K, are any of you willing to help compensate the district for this expense? HA! Opening Pandoras Box can be very costly. So now what happens, another search for a new Superintendent, which results in more cost to the district? Now you've also forced the hands of other community leaders that feel compelled to bring in the State to fix our problem, WOW! If you think that Diaz was tough, try taking on Dr. Garcia at the PED. One thing that everyone can agree on is that we need to do what's best for the district and the children that it serves. What ever happened to concentrating on meeting AYP and graduating students that are able to pursue their dreams and desires with a sound educational background? There is a reason that NM is ranked 49th in the nation for academic achievement; we have got to do better than this. But when will anyone in this district be happy with the selection of a Superintendent? Since Jesse Gonzalez left, this district has been run by small empires that include; Principles running their schools without being held accountable and upper level administrators running each of their programs without being held accountable. Any Superintendent or State authority is going to step in and end all of this. There needs to be one person in charge of the district and this is what all of you have a hard time coping with. Giving up one's authority and having to take direction from a Superintendent is what each of you has a hard time dealing with. I am not condoning Diaz's style of leadership, but I am saying that who ever leads this district will face the same problems with all of you because you can't accept that the dichotomized district must now answer to one person. This one person is held accountable to PED for academic performance. Unless each of you are content with just getting by and graduating children that rank 49th in the nation, then by all means, go ahead and accept educational mediocrity.
Ummmm, well... I dunno. Call me confused. I mean, this blog confuses the hell out of me. I'm already dopey from reading this stuff."Anonymous" always makes me suspicious. Example - Could someone tell me why the super needed a shower in her office? Most people do that at home. Blogger comment: Is this true? Can anyone confirm this? So, let's pretend I'm posting this as Anonymous."Hey people! Sonia was at my house last week and she said y'all are a bunch of dumb hicks."Seriously, what kind of validity can you give such comments if they are posted by "Anonymous?"Your blog (whoever "you" are, Mr. or Mrs. Anonymous) is almost unreadable. I can't figure out who's talking, and I really want to know WHO IS TALKING. It's like speaking with the KKK (which I did back in Alabama in the early 1970s - almost got my po head bashed in). Hard to see the shopkeeper behind the white hood. So, let me tell you what I've heard. It's from just one person, and I won't tell you who that person is because it was not meant for public consumption, but rather stemmed from a private conversation.Dr. Diaz expects all employees to be accountable for their performance.There. That's it, in a nutshell. That's really all I know. Now, I will reveal my own hidden agenda. I e-mailed Dr. Diaz this morning with a proposal. (I had no prior knowledge of this blog, or this controversy. I only learned of this today at approximately 2:30 p.m.) I figured she might be savvy enough to run with an idea that would place the LCPS at the forefront of the digital revolution. Below is a copy of the e-mail.Let me end this comment now. I neither support nor oppose Dr. Diaz. I never met the lady! I would not think of passing judgement on another human being based on anonymous comments. Based on the information supplied here, I am wary of possible "hidden agendas" on the part of these posters. Especially so because most of you are "Anonymous."Pax,Jeffrey M. Field
John Marsilio District Business Manager Was this job every advertised? I checked the LCPS web page & the Newspapers daily and I never saw it advertised. Isn't this a violation of NM state hiring regulations?
