Review Heath Haussamen's Blog
Heath is a local reporter. His blog has some very important information that reveals what the School Board is thinking. http://haussamen.blogspot.com/
I was told last night that the bilingual budget has been unfrozen and the textbook allocations are also unfrozen. Also, the contracts with Diaz's buddies have been canceled. The looming question is will the Board reinstate Diaz? If the Board reinstates Diaz, they will have endorsed her behavior and tactics. All the individuals who risked jobs and the wrath of Diaz to contribute information to this blog will be subject to her retaliation. That is why it is anonymous - for now. We had a request for an interview from Dusty Sensaba, an individual with a local news website. Dusty, things are too unstable and we all have bills to pay.
If you have an incident to report involving Diaz, please call Rep. Mary Helen Garcia. She need to hear everything. She can be reached at 526-2726, or Joni Gutierrez 647-5577, Joe Cervantes 522-3352 and Andy Nuñez 267-3451

Aren't Liz Marrufo and Joni Gutierrez buddies? I am afraid we have reentered the "good old boy" system that we had before Mr. Martinez was here. Unfortunately, his vision (which was for the children of the district, not the teachers and administrators) was halted by certain prima donnas who think that whatever they do behind their classroom doors are "best practices" for children and who are uninterested in improving their practice so that our children can receive a better education. Whether you liked him or disliked him personally, you have to admit that whenever you heard him speak, you heard about goals for our children. Those of you who blame NCLB for this mess-are you afraid to better your practice?
I'm not an employee, but I have had kids in the schools now for almost 20 years and have experience working in large organizations, so I can empathize with all of you.
It's time for all the staff of LCPS to get themselves an anonymous e-mail account at Yahoo and send some well written letters to every single state representative and board member who was present at the meeting with Diaz! THEY need to inform themselves before they speak and take sides in what is obviously a complex issue, which contrary to what the Board said, might involve financial misappropriation, which could be a crime.
I counseled domestic violence offenders for years, and I can attest to the amount of effort and sincerity they can muster to try and convince others that THEY are really the ones who are the "good guys", the victims, etc. Just because she is not a man, and the employees are not her wife doesn't mean she doesn't play out the same dynamics with people who she percieves to be lower in the power heirarchy. It is obvious to any one knowledgeable that Diaz is an abuser, and unfortunately, many people who will want to hold the Superintendents job will also have her personality type. In a female dominated workplace, she will be able to instill fear and intimidation far more easily than if she was leading a bunch of guys because women are more sensitive to these tactics. However, there is no reason anyone should be humiliated, intimidated or caused to feel fear in the workplace. Make sure you all document every incident you have had with her in writing, follow all the personnel policies and procedures, and remain the professionals you are until the end. When the time comes, remember that if you don't speak out, nothing can come of this, but that "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" should be the motto you all hold. Be courageous, focus on the future. And take care of each other. Justice WILL happen. God Bless you all!!!
After reading Haussamen's blog, it is no wonder that our illustrious leader has the talent for putting on a facade. Look at the comments. The board is putting her on leave but supports her activities to this date and was unaware according to Birseno of any personnel or fiduciary problems in the district; adding insult to injury, the state politician's believe she needs more time in order for her leadership and vision to show results. Exactly what is her vision and future plans for the district? Has anyone ever found out?
Now that all of you have had your moment to relish and savoir you’re “perceived” victory against Diaz, now take a step back and think about it. Have each of you been a tool and instrumental in giving Diaz what she might have been after all along?? To simply leave the district, raid the coffers, and walk away laughing at yet another successful ruse in which she will be highly compensated? If Diaz is forced out it will cost the district ~$500K, are any of you willing to help compensate the district for this expense? HA! Opening Pandora’s Box can be very costly. So now what happens, another search for a new Superintendent, which results in more cost to the district? Now you’ve also forced the hands of other community leaders that feel compelled to bring in the State to fix our problem, WOW! If you think that Diaz was tough, try taking on Dr. Garcia at the PED. One thing that everyone can agree on is that we need to do what’s best for the district and the children that it serves. What ever happened to concentrating on meeting AYP and graduating students that are able to pursue their dreams and desires with a sound educational background? There is a reason that NM is ranked 49th in the nation for academic achievement; we have got to do better than this. But…….when will anyone in this district be happy with the selection of a Superintendent? Since Jesse Gonzalez left, this district has been run by small empires that include; Principles running their schools without being held accountable and upper level administrators running each of their programs without being held accountable. Any Superintendent or State authority is going to step in and end all of this. There needs to be one person in charge of the district and this is what all of you have a hard time coping with. Giving up one’s authority and having to take direction from a Superintendent is what each of you has a hard time dealing with. I am not condoning Diaz’s style of leadership, but I am saying that who ever leads this district will face the same problems with all of you because you can’t accept that the dichotomized district must now answer to one person. This one person is held accountable to PED for academic performance. Unless each of you are content with just getting by and graduating children that rank 49th in the nation, then by all means, go ahead and accept educational mediocrity.
If Diaz is reinstated as superintendent, then the school board is sending the message that they basically back her behavior and don't care about the valid concerns of over 2,000 LCPS employees and many in the community. If Diaz is in fact brought back into her job, we should strike. I know it seems harsh, but this lady has no business being our boss, she's incompetent, doesn't belong here, and needs to leave, it's as simple as that. I won't work for this lady.
It is frustrating to hear how derogitory Dr. Diaz is about our district and our teachers/administrators. I understand she was at a conferance in Austin this weekend. She had nothing but negative comments about our teachers/administrators and district. Those in attendance were surprised by her comments.
Ms. Diaz was PAID to leave New York, she was PAID to leave Bridgeport,CT (when she already had a job lined up in Florida- further throwing salt on the wounds she created in our inner city's school system), she was PAID to leave Florida.... and you now are PAYING her to leave your school system! This woman is a very highly paid and rewarded for her inept handling of school systems. We in Bridgeport were duped into hiring a female, minority, Harvard grad--- sounds like a good hire and you probably were convinced it was too-- but someone needs to warn others about this person. We are still suffering from some policies she instituted and it will take a cdecade to recover from the ills she inflicted here. By the way, has anyone ever noticed how she would walk up to people and try to use her position to intimidate them.. simply by fixing their tie or adjusting their collars-- like a mother to her children?
In Bridgeport, she observed classes and had her husband tag along - and allowed him to ask questions of the children and staff. Risking a wrath of the left for hammering a female minority... please help others avoid the problems you faced by passing along a warning to those interviewing her in the future!MIGHT someone please track her next attempts to interview for another educational post and forward the warnings?
Congratulations to Las Cruces! It only took your district four months to oust Sonia. It took Bridgeport four years to get rid of her! You can't imagine the damage done during her tenure.
