Zia - Pro and Con
Blogger Comments: We have not censored comments posted to this blog. We hesitated to post one of these comments because it was so caustic. So rather than censor, here it is - the good, the bad and the ugly.
"When is the school board going to open their eyes. Dr. Diaz is destroying this district with her intmidation and harassment tactics. She has placed at least one school in utter turmoil--Zia. I know for a fact that the Zia administration was having difficulty with several current and former staff members. Conveniently, anonymous information was provided and now all three administrators are gone. Resigned, or on administrative and medical leave. What is being done to those people who generated those lies and sent them to the Superintendent's office? These people are still at Zia teaching children!!! I for one am appalled at the tactics employed by these people, but more disgusted how this superintendent addressed it. Who knows which administrator will be next? Is Ms. Thacker on medical leave because she was not being supported and constantly harassed and badgered? Is Mr. Gomez ever going to be told or given an opportunity to defend himself against what he is accused of? Did Mrs. Nunez really resign due to "personal reasons?" Or was that the only option she was given or lose her position? How many administrators need to be harassed, removed and forced out before this community realizes the damage that is being done. I know for a fact that Zia is hurting. The students have no stability and Dr. Diaz certainly doesn't seem concerned over what her actions have caused. She is more concerned over whether people "know who she is" and the fact that she has advanced degrees from Harvard. In the meantime, good quality administrators are being forced out and no one is doing anything about it. It is time to rid this community of the school board and Diaz before we end up bankrupt. We need to pack the board room and let them know how this affects our students and community."
"Zia Administrators) Thacker and Gomez (not Dan Davis) deserve exactly what they got. They ran their little dictatorship with no conscience as to the damage they were inflicting on "targeted" teachers and staff members. They were able to achieve their purging of targeted teachers with the help of Janan Diemer with no regard to professionalism or any code of conduct becoming of an educational administrator. I say, good riddance of the wretched, and more power to Diaz for standing up to these --."

Remember that the teachers at Zia wrote letters to rid themselves of their last administrators. They are used to getting their way. Thacker was put in there to bring some order and get them back on track. How sad that Dr. Diaz did not support her in that effort, because they are out of hand.
I applaud Sonia Diaz for the work she has done. Especially for taking on the football coaching staff at LCPS. It is the duty of coaches and staff members of LCPS to promote ethical behavior of ourselves and students. Cheating and defending students that intentionally hurt other students is intollerable. And all this has been done simply to win a game.
As for the situation at Zia. Thank you Sonia for getting rid of the previous administration. Thaker & Gomez, had no business running a school. staff at Zia can now breath freely and do what they are there to do, and that is teach.
It amazes me that some writers in this forum seem so willing to place angel wings and halos upon those who have gotten the axe. No one that I have spoken with who works in the district was sad to see any of the recently canned admins. go away. Yes, this includes Jack, Jerry, JVP, Mr. Incompetent at Human Resources, Ms. No Clue at San Andres, and soon to be Ms. I Like To Party at Zia. I love the spineless MFers who are quick to cry RECALL, but never show up at board Mtgs. STFU!
I would just like to say, that you have no authority to say anything about Dante Thacker. (Or Gomez for that matter) As a former student of Vista Middle School, where Mrs. Thacker was Assistant Pricipal for several years, I'm disgusted by your comments. Do you know her? Or are you just running your mouth about something you heard from someone? She is not the kind of person that would carry out her own personal vendettas on teachers. I don't know how all of a sudden she can be harassing teachers, if all the teachers at Vista Middle School at the time, Loved her. I personally think she is an extraordinary person and until you've been a student under her administration and get to know her, I strongly suggest that you don't say things like that. Because if you DID know her or Had ever met her, you couldn't possibly be able to allow yourself to say such things about an amazing leader like Dante Thacker. Again, this is just a comment, however I suggest you ask yourself what you really know about this person before you criticize. Thank You.

Sweetie, this is what our Freedoms provided under our constitution are for, the right to free speech. Just as you are entitled to voice your opinion so are others. As a former teacher at Vista, I will agree with you that Dante was a good administrator, but she was under the direction of CC as her head administrator. Her role at ZIA is quite different and her poor performance at Zia is why she is being removed. Continue to be concerned, this is why our country is so great and children such as yourself expressing your concerns is a breath of fresh air.
