Monday Evening 11-6

Blogger comment: I tried to organize the comments a bit. The heading is the posting to which the reader responded. This blog has taken on a life of its own! We are committed to not editing your comments.

Special Board Meeting Tomorrow

I am so glad to have found this blog. I am a retired LCPS administrator and I am enraged that this school board has blundered yet again. This community must unite and rid ourselves of this inept group of people. How on earth did they decide that Ms. Diaz would be good for this district? Candidates for the school board should announce early so money can be raised for them and so supporters can organize. The school board and Ms Diaz must go.

I truly believe that it is because of this blog that the school board is evaluating the supt. If you look further down the page of this blog you will see that it was pointed out that the school board was supposed to evaluate her by Oct. 1st. They aren't even following their own policies. Is this enough to start a recall effort for the entire board? If not, then what will it take? Show up and voice your opinion Tuesday at 3:30. Also and interesting note the meeting is at 3:30? Is that to ensure that parents and the working class cannot show up? Hard to believe that is the only time that the board had to meet.

I'm sure they are trying to figure out how to cover their rear. The word is out that these people are up to no good.I don't work for LCPS but I can tell you that all the people I run into that have dealt with her cannot stand this women. These are nice, good people too. This is a serious threat and the word of mouth on the street is strong. The dissent is brewing.Recall petitions I hear are being drawn up. It's time to end this now.

After listening to the Sup. this morning on the radio I can see how she got her job because I thought she was running for some political office, she simply wouldn't answer a direct question. She has now affirmed our belief that she and the board have every intention of doing anything they want without consulting anyone. This something nobody bargained for years ago when we thought we wanted a change

Dumping Ground

Does the State Board of Education know what is going on with LCPS? Blogger comment: It is ironic that one of the current LCPS Board members is a candidate for the former State School Board (now more an adviosry body). He's running unopposed.

Correction

Please excuse me I meant dishwasher. Who needs that and a new potty nextit will be a shower. This is our money being spent foolishly.

Email Monitoring

Do you mean to tell us that the e-mails arebeing monitored by Diaz? If soshe must not have much to do. Blogger comment: Email sent from LCPS email accounts can be monitored. I don’t think anyone has time to monitor them, but if you are suspected of something, your email can and will be reviewed.

Monday 11-06

I applaud those administrators who've cultivated school climates with both student learning and student growth foci! There've been rumors of the Superintendent berating administrators in front of their peers and chastising teachers in front of their students (for dress, not posting learning objectives...). There are more effective approaches to improving school systems...how is this behavior promoting learning? Has anyone heard of a clear plan from "she who shall remain nameless" which draws to light an educational vision and a plan to advocate student achievement, for all students? At least with Martinez there was a plan and a focus on LEARNING!

Several principals had a chance to meet with all the candidates for superintendent before they hired Diaz. Together, the principals presented their choices, in order, of who they deemed a worthy candidate. Diaz was their last choice.

Add Dan Shearin. Karen Bush- JoAnn Patton's former secretary (she had no job responsibilities left, since Dr. Patton's job was vacant); Rumor has it that she was after Dr. Diemer in human resources. Can anyone confirm this. Mr. Schutz- did he retire or did she force him out? Is it true that human resources, finance and textbooks are all directly reporting to Dr. Diaz?

Listen In Monday Morning

I listened to the Superintendent this morning and she refuses to be nailed down. She assured the public that the 2003 bond money has been used when in fact if it has, the field of dreams baseball stadium in then in fact invisible! Lied through her teeth on that one. They exposed a rat this morning. Diversionary tactics. Blogger comment: The master plan for the Field of Dreams included the baseball fields as well as a performing arts pavilion. But, neither of these two items were on the priority list for the bond issues for 2000 or 2003. The baseball field is in the current bond issue, 2006. I actually called Jack Jenkins to find out about this one because I was curious. Too bad they didn't have time to ask her while she'd doing all this analysis why so many heads have rolled and why morale is so bad. I've not heard one good thing uttered about this person or the board in 4 months.

Where is the NEA on this? The teacher's union has the strength to address this issue without fear of reprisal. If the administrators try to revolt with out the support of NEA, we will be picked off one by one. Let's take a petition to the board with 3000 signatures asking for the removal of Sonia Diaz. We could use some of that textbook money and buy out her contract. We'll get a bigger "bang for the buck".

I enjoy reading the blog, but I must say that much of the problem with morale is the fault of No Child Left Behind. As an educator in the district I have had the opportunity of visiting many parts of the state. Morale is very low wherever you go. November 7th is a great opportunity to start the process of changing this ill conceived, non-funded mandate that reduces teachers to robots teaching to the test. Vote to rid us of any candidate that has supported the bush admin., then turn to local problems.

Going to work at a department store such as Dr. Diaz threatened administrators with at the August administrative retreat is much more palatable than coming work to institute her "vision," whatever that might be... Even we who did not graduate from Havard are more than able to realize that the emperor has no new suit of clothes. It is time that she is exposed to the public before anymore damage is done to a district of very decent, hardworking Las Cruceans who truly know, and have our students' best interests at heart.

Could you tell me how many people have
been put on sick leave or been transfered
or retired since Diaz came on board?
Can't anyone find out what is in her contract, what
little perks she was given. Teachers could use
a few perks.
