Friday Morning Comments and Questions
Is it true that Zia's principal was removed again? Blogger Comment: The principal is on medical leave. As I understand it, she had to get a court order to be allowed to go back to work and then was constantly badgered and harassed.
It is time for Las Crucens to start attending the school board meetings again. We need to start paying attention to what the school board and Dr. Diaz are doing. I think we have had enough of these outsiders coming in and running our schools. We had plenty of local candidates that would have done a better job than Dr. Diaz. The next board meeting is on Tuesday Nov 7th
Is it true that Diaz has spent $1,000 or more for gourmet coffee, water, sugar, creamer, etc. for her office?
Forget about the $925 seminar. How about the trip to Orlando last year by several administrators and principals after we had all been told that there was no travel money for out-of-state functions?
How many different administrators will shuffle through the revolving Principal or Assistant Principal door at Zia Middle School before the Superintendent makes a choice that lasts more than 30 days? So far administrators in 3 positions at Zia this school year have included Thacker, Nunez, Gomez, Chavira, Vigil, Viramontes, Armendariz, Zamora. How about stability, consistency, or leadership? Is there a plan to slow down the revolving door at Zia?
Is it true Jose Martinez (Diaz friend from Puerto Rico) or the company that he works for was contracted for $20,000 to conduct a 2 day training for LCPS administrators?
Why is there a driver for the Superintendent to ANYWHERE? She is paid hundreds of dollars a month for a car allowance! When is the School Board going to wake up?
Diaz contract states that she will be evaluated after 90 days. The purpose is to assess her performance and grant a performance bonus. Was the evaluation conducted? Did she get her "bonus"?

Bonus? Could there possibly be any money left? Remember what a deficit LCPS was already in? Can we afford Dr. Diaz and her habits? This concerned parent will be at the next school board meeting. I want some answers!
Please note that the next school board meeting is scheduled for November 28th.
I would like to know what administrators went on this trip to Orlando?
$20.000 for two days. I could work 4 days a year and then rest. It pays to be friends with Dr. Diaz. Anyone know how I can get ahold of her and be her friend?
A recall is really in order.
Conflict of interest is one ongoing concern. With the monthly reading meetings, two board members participate; one participates with his wife who is a teacher.
In other instances, two board members canvassed central office employees during the beginning of the school year, asking what the employees thought of the superintendent. After having reported the comments back to the superintendent, the two employees were questioned about the statements.
Of course, having a party is a personal "right"; however, having the superintendent present and making comments about staff is certainly not professional and should have not been allowed by the board member.
A recall is costly and timely. Unseating the two school board members up for re-election is crucial. If this does not happen, then, certainly a recall is in order.
Is it true that as a condition of her employment Dr. Diaz was given a year of tenure for every 90 days on the job? All she has to do is last 15 months to be vested in New Mexico!
When is the school board going to open their eyes. Dr. Diaz is destroying this district with her intmidation and harassment tactics. She has placed at least one school in utter turmoil--Zia. I know for a fact that the Zia administration was having difficulty with several current and former staff members. Conveniently, anonymous information was provided and now all three administrators are gone. Resigned, or on administrative and medical leave. What is being done to those people who generated those lies and sent them to the Superintendent's office? These people are still at Zia teaching children!!! I for one am appalled at the tactics employed by these people, but more disgusted how this superintendent addressed it. Who knows which administrator will be next? Is Ms. Thacker on medical leave because she was not being supported and constantly harassed and badgered? Is Mr. Gomez ever going to be told or given an opportunity to defend himself against what he is accused of? Did Mrs. Nunez really resign due to "personal reasons?" Or was that the only option she was given or lose her position? How many administrators need to be harassed, removed and forced out before this community realizes the damage that is being done. I know for a fact that Zia is hurting. The students have no stability and Dr. Diaz certainly doesn't seem concerned over what her actions have caused. She is more concerned over whether people "know who she is" and the fact that she has advanced degrees from Harvard. In the meantime, good quality administrators are being forced out and no one is doing anything about it. It is time to rid this community of the school board and Diaz before we end up bankrupt. We need to pack the board room and let them know how this affects our students and community.
With regard to Thacker being on medical leave...not one of the staff at Zia was aware of a court order that made her return possible. And as for the harrassment, we at Zia (yes I do work there) are so afraid of what she will do to us that none of us would dare to cross her, let alone harrass her. She has made it clear that if you tick her off she will get you transferred, fired, or have your license pulled. Thanks to this blog we can finally vent our frustration!!!
